Dr Nicolas Schulz -  Founder of Pro Scientia

Dr. Schulz, a distinguished expert in Chemical Engineering, embarked on his professional journey with prestigious international firms like Honeywell and Dow Chemical. There, he skillfully navigated diverse roles, ranging from process control to equipment design in the petrochemical sector. His expertise in renewable energy technologies soon caught the attention of renowned institutions, earning him fellowships from CONICET in Argentina, DAAD in Germany, and the European Union's Marie Curie FP7.

After completing these projects, Dr. Schulz joined Argentina’s research council, CONICET, demonstrating his profound academic acumen. However, in 2016, he ventured back into the industry in the UK. He initially contributed to Bio Nano Consulting in London as a Scientific Consultant in Electrochemistry and Laboratory Manager. There, he pioneered electrochemistry research, notably in developing biosensors for monitoring food and water quality, focusing on contaminants like arsenic and acrylamide. His groundbreaking work on the arsenic sensor was recognized with the Royal Society of Chemistry's Innovative Technology first prize on October 22, 2018.

Dr. Schulz's expertise then led him to Babwe Barton Enterprises (now Barton Blakely Technologies, BBT), where, as the Fuel Development Lead, he played a pivotal role in developing a novel pilot-scale process. This innovation, using an in-house developed fuel, transforms carbon dioxide into valuable carbon composite nanomaterials, advancing battery technology applications. His collaboration with the Warrick Manufacturing Group was instrumental in characterizing these materials.

Continuing his impactful journey, Dr. Schulz remains a vital contributor to Pro Scientia, where his technical expertise drives ongoing projects. His academic prowess is reflected in his numerous peer-reviewed publications in electrochemistry and surface sciences, a book chapter, and articles aimed at demystifying science for the general public. Dr. Schulz's career is marked by a passion for applied electrochemistry in sensor technology, renewable energy production and storage, computational modeling, and process scale-up.

An esteemed member of the scientific community, Dr. Schulz is a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, The American Chemical Society, and the International Society of Electrochemistry, embodying a blend of academic brilliance and industrial innovation.
